Matamoras, PA — November 20 — Members of the Matamoras Fire Department Station 32, 506 Ave Q, attended an evening of air-medical education at the Pike County Fire Training Centre alongside staff from multiple Pike County departments. Lehigh Valley Med-Evac staff discussed the services that their flight crews offer and described important actions that EMS and firemen can take to assist with safe lift-offs, patient boarding, and helicopter landings. Landing zone layout, radio coordination, illumination considerations, and aircraft hazard awareness were all discussed. The program was supposed to end with a helicopter display, but the weather made safe flight impossible. Respondents acknowledged a successful evening of shared learning even in the absence of the landing. During critical medical or trauma situations needing air transfer, the training reaffirmed the importance of clear collaboration.
