Ferrisburgh, Vt. — Nov. 6 — On Thursday morning, Ferrisburgh Vol. Fire Dept. was dispatched to Spear Street in Charlotte to assist with a rekindle involving a large pile of hay bales. Overnight wind gusts and residual embers allowed the material to smolder through the night and into the early morning hours. Ferrisburgh responded with its FAST team and tanker, with the tanker tasked to support water supply operations for suppression crews already on scene.
Interior members from Ferrisburgh assisted in exposing and extinguishing remaining hot spots to prevent further ignition. Crews are expected to remain on scene until all areas have fully cooled. The response reinforces the continued coordination between local departments during extended rural fire incidents.
