Fire Claims Life of Town Resident: Destroys Home

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

An early evening structure fire destroyed an occupied two story home and claimed the life of the homeowner on Friday November 21, 2025 in this Eastern Hampden County town.Just after 8:00 p.m. Wilbraham Regional ECC began receiving multiple 911 calls reporting the home at 3 Delmor Avenue as fully involved. Wilbraham fire crews arrived in minutes to find an occupied two story Cape Cod style home with heavy fire venting from three out of four sides and simultaneously initiated a recall of off duty personnel and struck the second alarm to get more manpower to the scene. Neighbors told fire crews the homeowner was disabled and still inside the building and crews made entry with hand lines. Sadly, the man had already succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead-on-scene. Crews from Wilbraham, Ludlow and Westover Air Reserve Base then set about knocking down the remaining fire and overhauling the building. The homeowner was the only person inside at the time of the fire and no other injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Wilbraham Fire and Police Departments, The State Fire Marshals office and, due to the fatality, The office of Hampden County District Attorney Anthony Gulluni.
