Henrico County, Virginia. November 22, 2021, at 4:45 PM, Henrico Fire units were called to the 1300 block of Grumman Dr for a structure fire. Dispatch indicated that the house was on fire and the gas meter was on fire. First arriving units reported fire on the exterior of the structure. The fire spread up the outer wall and extended into the walls of the home. Fire crews were able to control the gas lines and worked with City Gas to ensure the lines were completely shut off.

The fire is extinguished.

All the occupants were outside when fire crews arrived. There were no injuries to citizens or fire personnel. The family was displaced from their home. They have arrangements for alternative housing.

The Henrico Fire Marshal’s personnel are working to determine the cause of the fire.
Henrico Fire reminds everyone to properly dispose of fireplace and fire pit ashes. Dispose of ashes in a metal container with a lid and ensure that the ashes are completely extinguished and cold to the touch. Never place those ashes inside or close to a structure.

Henrico Fire reminds everyone the value of having working smoke alarms in all homes. Lives are saved every day because of a smoke alarm. Once you are outside of the home, never return inside.
