Coudersport, PA — October 31 — Coudersport Vol. Department. A reported structure fire prompted the fire department to react to Box 48-02 in Coudersport Borough. Chief 48-Phelps took command of Division 2 after arriving at a 2.5-story house with light smoke. While firefighters dispersed to the roof, interior, Division 1, and basement, Engine/Tanker 48 extended a 5-inch line from East Second Street. The source was a sewing machine that shorted out and melted into the carpet on the second floor. The estimated cost of the electrical damage was less than $1,000. No injuries were recorded while McKean Station 3/RIT and Department 49 EMS stood by. During operations, Route 6 was closed. The issue was contained thanks to the homeowner's prompt reporting and obvious reflective address signage.
