Winslow Township, N.J — Oct. 23 — MTs from Winslow Township Emergency Medical Services and the Winslow Township Fire Department collaborated on car extrication training. The practice was created to provide novice EMTs with hands-on experience with care and communication from inside a truck as firefighters struggle to remove a simulated patient.
The training also benefited new firefighters by giving them hands-on experience with extrication tools while working closely with EMS workers and a patient in the car. The collaborative evolution helped both organizations prepare for real-world accident responses, in which teamwork and effective communication decide how quickly a patient may be rescued and transported for medical care.
