PFD Knocks Down Mid-Block Commercial Fire in Tight Alley Access

Philadelphia, PA — October 31 — In a small commercial facility sandwiched between two occupied residences, the PFD responded to a structure fire. While other firms gained access to the roof to increase ventilation, crews moved hose lines into the alley and into the main building. Movement was challenging due to the restricted entrance ports, but coordinated strategies helped keep the situation under control.
In order to prevent the fire from spreading to the buildings on either side, the command assigned companies to internal suppression, roof ventilation, and exposure protection. As progress was made inside, hose lines were moved, and once ventilation was installed, circumstances improved. Early and persistent coordination on the scene helped to minimise damage to nearby properties and bring the crisis under control without any major firefighter injuries.
