November 15, 2025 — Full Hackensack Fire Department reported that its Second Platoon, under the command of Deputy Chief Derevyanik, responded this morning to a fire on the fourth floor of 389 Main Street. First-arriving units, assisted by the building’s sprinkler system, rapidly knocked down the fire and prevented further spread.
According to the department, firefighters worked quickly to limit water damage, secure utilities, and coordinate with building management to restore fire protection systems, allowing residents to safely return to their apartments. During the incident, mutual-aid companies provided citywide coverage while Hackensack units operated on scene.
The Hackensack Building Department, Fire Prevention Bureau, Police Department, and Health Department also responded to support incident operations. The fire remains under investigation, though it is not considered suspicious.
The Hackensack Fire Department commended its members and partner agencies for their coordinated and efficient response.
