East Rutherford Fire Department brings Rose Street house fire under control

October 30, 2025 — Full East Rutherford Fire Department reported that at approximately 5:00 p.m. this evening, crews were dispatched to Rose Street for a reported house fire with possible entrapment. Upon arrival, firefighters observed smoke coming from the rear of the building, but it was quickly confirmed that all occupants had safely exited prior to their arrival.


According to the department, a hoseline was advanced to the second-floor apartment, where members located a fire in the kitchen area and extinguished it. The incident was brought under control in under 20 minutes, preventing further extension or additional damage.

The Wallington Fire Department FAST Team responded to the scene, while a Wallington engine provided station coverage at the Herman Street Firehouse to ensure continued protection for the borough.


The East Rutherford Fire Prevention Bureau is currently investigating the cause of the fire.
