Fair Lawn, N.J. — November 11 — The Fair Lawn and Glen Rock Fire Departments wrapped up their Fall Citizens Fire Academy on Tuesday, capping up another successful six-session program meant to provide locals a firsthand look at the work firefighters do. Participants received training in engine and truck company operations, vehicle extrication, fire extinguisher use, SCBA familiarization, and basic rescue procedures, all in a safe, controlled setting.

Several students expressed interest in joining the volunteer fire service, and instructors observed high levels of participation throughout the program. The academy is held every fall, and residents interested in next year's class are invited to look for registration information over the summer.
