Franklin Township, N.J. — November 7 —At 4:20 a.m., Montgomery Township Fire Department requested Engine 35 to help with a first-alarm structure fire on Opossum Road. Montgomery Township Volunteer Fire Company No. 2, Montgomery Township Volunteer Fire Company No. 1, and the Rocky Hill Fire Department initially responded after receiving reports of a home with a fire visible from the front and one individual remaining inside.

Montgomery Township Police officers responded in minutes and were able to enter through a rear door to rescue the trapped resident before fire crews arrived. Firefighters swiftly limited the fire to the front of the house and sought to prevent it from spreading further.

Engine 35 assisted with extinguishment and overhaul, and crews from other agencies worked throughout the early morning. Montgomery EMS and RWJ paramedics assessed the residents before transporting them to a local hospital. Flagtown Fire/Rescue, Woods Road Fire Company, Princeton Fire Department, and Plainsboro Fire Department were among the other agencies that responded. The Lawrence Road Fire Company supplied backup coverage. Station 35 resumed service after completing its task.
