Franklin Township, N.J. — November 1 —On October 29, at around 08:47 a.m., all three Franklin Fire District 2 companies responded to a reported structure fire on Amethyst Way in the Franklin Park neighborhood. Chief 35 arrived soon after dispatch and escalated the assignment to a First Alarm for an active fire at Box 3135.
Engine 35 was the first on the scene, followed by SB Engine 1, Squad 31, Truck 31, Franklin Township Fire Prevention Engine 8, Kendall Park Truck 223, and Rescue 41 and 56. Due to the quantity, position, and severity of the fire, the initial forces launched a defensive action. Master streams were used to gain control and safeguard adjacent exposures.
The fire's heat was powerful enough to melt siding on nearby buildings and damage numerous parked automobiles and a shed. Crews worked cooperatively to confine the fire and prevent further spread.
