Country Hills, N.J. — November 2 —Just before 9:30 p.m., the Country Hills Volunteer Fire Company received a request to set up a landing zone at Old York School for a medevac helicopter responding to a serious injury at a private property.
Firefighters rapidly guarded the landing area and established contact with the arriving NorthSTAR/SouthSTAR aircraft. As the helicopter neared, crews provided lights, ground safety information, and landing instructions.
Once the aircraft set down, CHVFC members assisted the flight crew and helped load the patient into the helicopter for rapid transport to University Hospital in Newark. Firefighters remained on standby until the helicopter lifted off and the scene was cleared. The operation was completed safely with coordinated support from New Jersey State Police and the flight team.
