First Alarm Brings Strong Mutual Aid to Morning Structure Fire

Washington, N.J. — November 2 — At 8:11 a.m., the Washington Fire Department and EMS were alerted to the 100 block of East Washington Avenue for a reported structure fire. Police responded shortly after the call and confirmed a working fire in a multi-family property. The incident was upgraded to a First Alarm at 8:17 a.m., bringing additional fire companies from Warren and Hunterdon counties and assigning units for station coverage.
Washington Fire Department units, including Chief 83, Engine 8363, and Ladder 83, arrived in minutes. Crews advanced lines and started primary suppression measures. As the initial work progressed, mutual aid companies arrived, including Tri-County Fire Company and Hackettstown Fire Department—both of which were conducting an extrication class at the time—as well as Washington Township Fire Department, Hampton Fire Company, High Bridge Fire Department, Mansfield Township Fire Department, and Goodwill Fire Company. Initial personnel swiftly contained the fire and prevented it from spreading to other parts of the structure. All occupants had safely departed before the fire department arrived.
The issue was brought under control at around 8:43 a.m. There were no injuries recorded. The Washington Township Fire Department recognized the coordinated effort and coordination displayed by all responding departments.
