Collings Lakes, N.J. — October 24 — At about 09:33 a.m., firefighters from Stations 12-3 and 12-6 were alerted to 215 Cains Mill Road in the Collings Lakes part of Buena Vista Township for a reported structure fire. Squad 12-31 arrived first and discovered a fully involved detached garage with an expansion that threatened a second neighboring garage and the adjacent residence. Upon arrival, 12-31 issued an all-hands assignment.
The response involved units from the Hammonton Fire Department, including Tender and Ladder 9, as well as the Cecil Fire Company on a full assignment. On 12-31, a crew of four strung two 1¾-inch assault lines to commence extinguishment and prevent exposures on both sides of the property. Water supply was developed by tenders 12-34, 12-63, 29-54, and 9. Ladder 12-36, Engine 29-51, and Tower 9 all contributed to the suppression and overhaul efforts. The fire was brought under control in 45 minutes. At around 11:20 a.m., units from Station 12-3 cleared the scene. There were no casualties recorded among firemen or civilians. The Collings Lakes Fire Department praised all mutual-aid partners for their support, as well as Second Responders for providing breakfast to workers returning to the station.
