Brigantine Divers Train in Rapid Response and Black Water Operations

Brigantine, N.J. — November 17 — The Brigantine Fire and EMS Department announced that its Dive Team had completed a four-day training and recertification program in Rapid Response Search and Recovery and Black Water Diving. Butch Hendricks of Lifeguard Systems led the classes, and he has been instructing Brigantine divers for over 30 years and is well-known in public safety diving circles. The program was backed by the United States Coast Guard Station Atlantic City, which provided classroom and water-based training facilities.

The Brigantine Diving Team is one of Atlantic County's recognized public safety diving units, responding year-round to emergencies throughout the region. The squad aids communities with recoveries of people, vehicles, firearms, and other evidence in a variety of settings, including ocean waters, bays, lakes, and quarries.
