West Amwell, N.J. — October 25 — While West Amwell Fire Company members were helping at a Trunk-or-Treat event Friday night, West Amwell Township Police asked 26 Fire to assist with a land search for two missing hikers and their dog at Washington Overlook Park. Chief 26 (Ent) and Car 26-1 (Batt. Siwy) reacted and worked with police on the first search strategy.

The search crew used glow sticks to mark their trail through the dense terrain, and they eventually found the hikers around 1,000 yards into the woods. The individuals and their dog were safely led back to the trailhead, where a BLS unit and more fire company members awaited. The effective search effort was assisted by 11 WAFCO personnel, as well as Lambertville-New Hope Ambulance and Rescue Squad.
