October 20, 2025 — Full Community Volunteer Fire Company #1, Inc. reported that earlier this afternoon, firefighters responded alongside Wayne Fire Company #2 to Burgess Place for a brush fire that ignited next to the train tracks. Upon arrival, crews discovered a primary power line down and sparking, which had ignited nearby vegetation.
According to the company, Wayne Fire units operated with the Wayne Police Department, NJ Transit Police, the New Jersey Forest Fire Service, and PSE&G to safely bring the incident under control. Power was temporarily cut to the surrounding area as crews mitigated the hazard and was restored approximately 30 minutes later.
The Wayne Fire Department and the New Jersey Forest Fire Service quickly extinguished and overhauled the fire. All units cleared the scene and were back in service by 3:00 p.m.
The Community Volunteer Fire Company expressed its appreciation to all assisting agencies and thanked local residents for their patience while emergency personnel worked in the area.
