Allentown, Pa. — November 4 — On Tuesday night, the Allentown Fire Department responded to a brush fire in the forested area close to 333 Union Street using Engine 6 and Truck 2 from the Ridge Avenue station. Along a slope, crews discovered a stretch of underbrush that was on fire. The fire was spreading through the woods by wind and dry leaves.
Firefighters reached the fire from various access points using handlines and portable gear. The operation was aided by additional lighting because the teams were operating in low visibility and confined spaces. Members spent extra time looking for hot spots to prevent any rekindling after the fire was swiftly put out.
