Vehicle Leaves Roadway and Catches Fire in Newburgh

NEWBURGH, NY - Newburgh FD responded to a MVA with a vehicle that left the roadway and caught fire on November 17th. Subjects were out of the vehicle when police and firefighters arrived. The vehicle's fuel tank caught fire in the woods area of Pierces Road and Williamsburgh Drive. Firefighters stretched two lines to extinguish the fire and used the Jaws and port-a-power to open the trunk area. Firefighters recalled for Engine 1 to respond and assist with the operation. Pierces Road was shut down during the incident. The City of Newburgh Police Dept. is investigating the cause.
