Garden Spot Fire Rescue (GSFR39) reported that on October 16, the department responded to its 500th incident of the year following a van-versus-farm-tractor collision at Route 322 and Tobacco Road. Fire police from GSFR and Martindale Fire were initially dispatched at 6:30 a.m. for traffic control but immediately requested fire and EMS units after assessing the severity of the crash.
According to GSFR39, Engines 39-1, 39-3, and 03 (Martindale), Utility 03, Rescue 39, and EMS 36 (Fivepointville) responded to the scene. EMS evaluated one individual who had been riding on the tractor wagon at the time of impact, while crews stabilized the tractor and began a detailed cleanup operation. Rotary saws were used to cut apart sections of the wagon trailer frame that had become lodged inside the van due to the collision.
GSFR39 reported that all units cleared the scene safely and Route 322 was reopened to traffic by 7:30 a.m.
