Jackson Township, N.J. — October 28 —Jackson Fire District #4 hosted a hybrid and electric vehicle training event for first responders, which was led by AVI experts. Mutual-aid partners from Ocean and Monmouth counties attended the seminar, which aimed to improve responder safety and preparedness while dealing with EV and hybrid events. The instruction included vehicle foundations, high-voltage battery technology, safety systems, shutdown procedures, scene size-up, extrication considerations, personal protective equipment (PPE), tool selection, and thermal event tactics.
District authorities stated that continuing education in developing vehicle technologies is critical as EVs become more widespread on local roads. The hands-on program improved regional response skills and enabled safer, more successful operations for all agencies engaged.
