The Fire Department Mount Joy (FDMJ), in partnership with the Maytown–East Donegal Township Fire Department, delivered a Fire Prevention Week educational program today at Donegal Springs Elementary School. Firefighters set up three interactive stations that students rotated through during the visit. These included a smoke room simulation demonstrating how smoke behaves and how to exit safely during an emergency; a firefighter gear demonstration explaining the protective equipment worn during responses; and an apparatus tour allowing students to explore fire engines and tools up close. The departments expressed their appreciation to the school for welcoming them again this year, noting that they hoped the students enjoyed the experience as much as the firefighters did. Fire Prevention Week is observed annually to promote fire safety awareness, prevention practices, and community preparedness.
