Parkesburg, Pa. — November 8 — At 12:40 p.m., the Keystone Valley Fire Department was alerted to the area of Stottsville Road and Boro Line Road due to a rapidly spreading brush fire. Several 911 callers reported flames spreading uphill into a wooded area. Chief 8 (Marks) came with Tac 8 and confirmed an active fire raging through brush and timber, necessitating an immediate call for additional reinforcements. Tanker 8 arrived shortly after and went into service, assisting with suppression and water delivery while Chief 8 established Old Stottsville Road Command.

Crews worked in windy circumstances but were able to extinguish the fire at the ridgeline, limiting the burn area to around 1.5 acres. Mutual-aid organizations assisted with extinguishment, overhaul, and hotspot checks before the scene was secured. KVFD commended all aiding agencies and encouraged citizens to use caution while burning outdoors, especially under windy conditions, which can increase fire spread and endanger property and rescuers.
