Myerstown, Pa. — October 15 — Keystone Hook & Ladder Company No. 1, firefighters juggling a variety of fire-prevention information across the community with their usual call load. For the ELCO EMT program, Engine 31 helped create a landing zone so that students could safely observe air-medical operations. Additionally, members attended a number of fall festivals where they responded to enquiries regarding basic fire safety and equipment.

At Jackson Elementary, firefighters reviewed escape plans and house fire preparedness for the entire day. Later, a sizable group of homeschoolers came to the station to watch demonstrations and get a rundown of how the department operates on a regular basis. The month also featured a presentation at Arbour Gate, where locals experienced using the fire-extinguisher training simulator and learnt about how the department operates.
