November 14, 2025 — The Cranford Fire Department has announced with profound sadness the passing of Retired Firefighter Eddie Wallace, a longtime and deeply respected member of the department.

Eddie began his service with the Cranford Fire Department on July 1, 1988, when he was appointed to the Call Department. He later joined the Career Department on October 5, 1993, where he proudly served the community for more than 25 years. He officially retired on March 31, 2019. In addition to his fire service, Eddie devoted many years to the Cranford First Aid Squad, further demonstrating his unwavering dedication to helping others.

Before entering the fire service, Eddie achieved the rank of Eagle Scout with BSA Troop 80, a reflection of his lifelong commitment to service, leadership, and community. That same spirit guided him throughout his career, whether in the firehouse or on the many calls where he protected the residents of Cranford.

The department extended its heartfelt condolences to Eddie’s family, friends, and all who had the privilege of serving alongside him. He is remembered not only for his professionalism and dedication, but also for his kindness, humor, and countless memories that will remain a cherished part of the department’s history.
