November 9, 2025 — The Mt. Lake Fire Company issued an important reminder to residents this week after crews recently experienced difficulty locating a home during a call. In a true emergency—especially within the critical “Golden Hour”—any delay in reaching a patient or property can greatly impact survival and safety.

Fire officials emphasized the importance of having a clearly marked, reflective address sign that can be easily seen from the roadway in both directions. With winter approaching, they also urged residents to ensure that house numbers are mounted high enough to remain visible above plowed snowbanks.

The department stressed that visibility is only part of the equation. Driveways should remain clear, well-maintained, and free of obstacles to allow fire trucks and emergency vehicles safe access. Proper marking and driveway access not only improve response times but also enhance the safety of both residents and first responders.

The fire company encourages everyone to check their signage and driveway conditions now—before winter weather arrives—to help ensure that help can reach them when seconds matter most.
