Highspire, Pa. — October 31 — Highspire's Citizen's Fire Company #1 responded to a roof fire at a Swatara Township single-story house. In order to install ladders, open the roof, and prevent the fire from spreading farther within the building, crews collaborated with mutual-aid partners. Before the area was turned over to investigators, external crews helped with ventilation while interior teams investigated for extension.
Prior to night-time Trick-or-Treat preparations, the call was the first of three situations that Highspire firemen addressed during the day. The department observed that the consistent demand demonstrated the importance of preserving enough staffing and cooperation among Dauphin County businesses.
