Highspire, Pa. — October 16 — Highspire's Citizen's Fire Company #1 participated in a Fire Prevention Month outreach at Steelton-Highspire Elementary School alongside Swatara Fire-Rescue and the Steelton Fire Department. Students met with firemen to go over the fundamentals of smoke alarms, how to plan a home escape, and what to anticipate when firefighters react to crises. The joint visit helped Dauphin County's continued efforts to educate people about fire safety.
Students saw how local departments collaborate during calls while getting a close-up look at gear and equipment. The initiative maintains the region's focus on early education as a critical component of lowering community fire risk.
