New Castle, Pa. — November 4 — Members of Scott Township VFD-Station 1500 practiced digging fire lines as part of wildfire readiness training, which reinforced a crucial strategy for halting or slowing the spread of brush fires. The exercise emphasized teamwork and the use of hand tools, which is similar to the kind of work frequently needed in rural areas throughout Lawrence County.

The necessity of maintaining these abilities throughout the autumn season was highlighted by the training, which took place the day after the department responded to two brush-fire incidents. Building fire lines is still a crucial component of the township's strategy for controlling outdoor fires and stopping minor occurrences from getting worse.
