A kitchen fire is believed to be to blame for a fire that destroyed apartments and a local donut shop in Albany.
The City of Albany Fire Department was called to 193 Lark St on Sunday, November 2, for a report of a kitchen fire on the second floor.
Upon arrival of firefighters, heavy fire was observed coming from the second and third floors of the structure, extending to nearby buildings.
A second alarm was transmitted, bringing in additional companies.
Crews began fighting the fire and protecting exposure buildings. The fire was quickly knocked down and crews gained access to the attic to check for extension.
The first floor of the building is home to Bitchin Donuts.
“As the literal smokes clears, I want to start by saying a huge **THANK YOU** to the Albany Fire Department, first responders, and police officers,” read a Facebook post from the owners of Bitchin Donuts. “You all showed up *fast*, worked your hearts out, and saved so much. I’m deeply impressed and so thankful for your quick action.”
