Old Forge, Pa. — October 28 — Old Forge Fire Department arrived near the Davis Street exit on I-81 Southbound in response to a reported cattle trailer fire. When crews from the Greenwood Fire Department and Taylor Fire Rescue arrived, they discovered that a livestock trailer under the Davis Street bridge had fire in its axle area. While firefighters worked beneath the structure, the bridge and southbound lanes were briefly blocked for safety.

After the fire was contained and kept from spreading, tankers from Elmhurst and Springbrook were sent back. State authorities are investigating the cause of the tragedy, which also resulted in livestock losses. Once the incident was secured, traffic flow was resumed.
