October 1 – Bart Township Fire Company

At approximately 9:20 a.m. on Tuesday morning, Bart Township Fire Company (BTFC) and mutual aid units were dispatched to the 1000 block of Mount Pleasant Road in Bart Township for a reported dwelling fire. The 911 caller indicated that a fire had originated in the kitchen and was rapidly spreading.

Engine 51-2 arrived to find a single-story ranch-style home with smoke showing from the front of the structure. Crews stretched a handline to the front door and advanced inside, quickly knocking down the bulk of the fire. Tower 57 successfully navigated the steep, narrow driveway and positioned at the front of the residence to assist with initial suppression efforts. The fire was brought under control just 22 minutes after the arrival of Engine 51-2.

Tanker 51 secured the water supply at the end of the driveway, while Squad 51 (formerly Engine 51-1) provided additional manpower. Tanker 51-2 responded to supply extra water but was ultimately not needed. Utility 51 (formerly Squad 51-1), along with fire police, managed traffic around the scene to ensure safe operations.

BTFC members and mutual aid crews completed extensive overhaul, suppression, and salvage operations before clearing the scene around 11:00 a.m.

The Bart Township Fire Company extends its appreciation to all mutual aid companies for their assistance, and to the members who delivered cold drinks to support crews working on scene.
