Car Makes U-Turn Through Fence on Fire Island

On Saturday November 13th 2021 at 11:30am the Suffolk County Park Rangers responded to a call after a vehicle ran through the fence at Smith Point County Park. On the arrival of Park Ranger Unit 355 he found the damaged fence and no vehicle. Eye witnesses talked to the Ranger and said they vehicle fled into the parking lot of Smith Point Beach. Suffolk County Park Ranger unit 355 then raced to go into the parking lot and requested back up and Suffolk County Police Department 7th Precinct units. Suffolk County Park Ranger Unit 340 responded as back up to assist Unit 355 that was on scene already. While the ranger from unit 355 he found there was no injuries. He also found the vehicle had front end damage to a SUV. Suffolk County Police Department Units 7-1 and 713 responded to the call. All unit were back in service in approximately 1 hour.
