Mifflintown, Pa. — October 31 — On Halloween night, Mifflintown Hose Co. #1 held its yearly "Truck or Treat" event, which consistently attracted families and kids to the station on Washington Avenue. As visitors strolled around the apparatus bays, firemen distributed sweets and provided a close-up view of the department's machinery and engines.

In addition to supporting the department's continuous community outreach initiatives, the event gave local families a safe place to congregate. During the Halloween season, volunteer firemen continued a custom that has spread throughout Juniata County departments by spending time answering enquiries about operations and providing basic safety information.
