Shamong Township, N.J. — October 19 — Just before 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, Station 171 was sent to Route 206 near the Silvi Concrete plant after someone reported seeing fire but was unsure of the source. New Jersey State Police units arrived quickly and found the fire in a garage building on Red Lion Road. This prompted an updated address and a full structure fire response.
Tender 1716 was the first to arrive and discovered the garage was heavily involved in flames, with multiple commercial trucks also burning. The crew began an interior attack until conditions worsened, forcing them to switch to defensive operations. Rescue Engine 1712 and Utility 1718 arrived soon after to provide support.
Indian Mills Volunteer Fire Company, which serves Shamong Township, joined mutual aid units from Lumberton, Good Will, Medford Township Fire & EMS, Tabernacle, Eastampton, Westampton, Hampton Lakes, Hainesport, Chesterfield, and Mansfield. Crews helped with fire suppression, overhaul, and water supply efforts throughout the incident.
Units cleared the scene just before 9:00 a.m. No injuries were reported. The Burlington County Fire Marshal’s Office is conducting a standard investigation into the cause.
