Wilkins Township, Pa. — November 2 —Just before noon, 302ENG was on the road for a detail when units were alerted to a possible residential fire in the Eastmont area. Dispatch informed that a caller reported the fire was out, and 302CHF directed responding companies to stay on the road. However, upon arrival, 302CHF found a working fire at the back of the building.

302ENG and several mutual aid departments worked for several hours, dealing with tough property conditions, terrain, and the fire’s location. Crews focused on getting access, putting out remaining hot spots, and ensuring the building was safe before leaving the scene.

The Allegheny County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire. Wilkins Township VFC No. 1 thanked all mutual aid partners and standby companies throughout the valley for their help.
