Pittsburgh, Pa. — November 10 —The Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security activated the Emergency Operations Center this weekend to support the EQT Pittsburgh 10 Miler and 10K, organized by P3rmovespgh. Thousands of runners followed a course that went through several neighborhoods before finishing in downtown Pittsburgh. This required close coordination among city and regional agencies.
The Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire worked with the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police, Pittsburgh Bureau of EMS, the Department of Public Works, and the Pittsburgh Crossing Guards to monitor race conditions and address any safety issues along the route. The EOC provided a central location for real-time communication, resource management, and tracking the situation.
External support came from UPMC, Pittsburgh Regional Transit, the Pennsylvania State Police, and the Allegheny County Police Department. They all helped to ensure a smooth and well-managed event. Officials noted that planned coordination and teamwork between agencies were essential for maintaining safety throughout the race.
