Quick moving fire destroys Little Ferry home

An overnight fire destroyed a private home in Little Ferry in the early morning hours of November 12. At approximately 1:49am companies were dispatched to 9 Franklin st on a reported house fire. First arriving chiefs were met heavy fire on the second floor and attic of a 2½-story home. The rapidly moving fire quickly forcing command to evacuate the fire building forcing them to make and exterior attack. Numerous outside hand lines along with Engine 309's deck and Hackensack 's ladder pipe knocked down the heavy fire.
The fire was under control at 2:43am by orders of Chief of Dept Steve Iurato. Everyone got out OK and no injuries were reported in the blaze fire officials said. Mutual aid from Hasbrouck Heights, Moonachie, South Hackensack and Hackensack assisted on the scene. Companies from Ridgefield Park, and Wood-Ridge covered in firehouses. The Little Ferry Bureau of Fire Prevention is investigating the cause.
