Structure Fire on Ridge Road in Fairfield

On Saturday, October 18, at approximately 1:45 p.m., firefighters from Fairfield, Waterville, Winslow, Clinton, along with a RIT from Skowhegan, were dispatched to respond to a structure fire on Ridge Road in Fairfield. Upon arrival, units observed heavy flames and thick smoke billowing from the farmhouse. Fire crew swiftly launched an aggressive interior attack, utilizing multiple hoses, hand tools and thermal imaging cameras locating and extinguishing the blaze efficiently. Extensive overhaul efforts involved checking for hidden embers and reinforcing the structure's weakened areas to prevent rekindling. The fire caused extensive damage, destroying most of the interior and compromising the roof. Preliminary investigations suggest the fire likely ignited in the chimney.
