On Sunday, November 14, 2021 at 2:00 pm, Waldens Ridge Emergency Services (WRES) will be celebrating the completion and opening of their new fire station with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The new 20,000 square foot fire station contains a community room, sleeping quarters for 16 personnel, integrated training props, state of the art audio visual systems and a Decontamination Room. The fire hall is capable of housing eight to ten pieces of apparatus. This is replacing the fire station that was built in 1980. Hamilton County Mayor Jim Coppinger, Hamilton County Commissioner Chip Baker, Town of Walden Mayor Lee Davis, Director of Hamilton County Emergency Management, Chris Adams, fire officials and supporting fire agencies will be in attendance for this special event. Waldens Ridge Emergency Services has forty-two personnel, responds to 400 alarms a year and cover approximately 38.5 square miles. WRES Chief Jimmy Hillis says “This new fire station will be an asset for the Town of Walden residents, the unincorporated area of Hamilton County and Signal Mountain as a whole.”
