Smithtown FD Combats 2nd Alarm Auto Shop Fire

In the evening hours of Sunday November 9th 2025 the Smithtown Fire Department was dispatched to a building fire located on Maple Avenue. Smithtown Chief 4-2-31 was first out and advised by dispatchers they were taking multiple calls for vehicles on fire and building on fire. Smithtown Chief 4-2-31 arrived on scene and encountered a 1 story auto shop with heavy fire showing and transmitted a working fire. Due to worsening fire conditions command went into defensive operation and a 2nd alarm was transmitted. A total of 4 hand-lines and 2 aerial master streams were in operation. Firefighters utilized foam operation to combat gas fed fires from the vehicle’s gas tanks. After the fire was knocked down firefighters conducted an extensive overhaul. Mutual aid was provided by Commack FD, Hauppauge FD, Kings Park FD, Saint James FD, and Nissequogue FD. No injuries were reported. Units operated under the command of Smithtown FD Chief 4-2-30. The fire is currently under investigation.
