Neptune Fire Assists on I-99 Commercial Vehicle Fire

Bald Eagle, Pa. — October 18 —Firefighters from the Neptune Fire Company responded to a commercial vehicle fire on Interstate 99 southbound near the 53-mile marker Saturday afternoon. They were joined by Bald Eagle, Port Matilda, and several mutual-aid departments. Deputy Chief 36 was the first to arrive. He confirmed a working fire involving a concrete pump truck and took command. Crews from Engine/Rescue 36 started firefighting efforts, with support from Engine 33 from the borough, Centre County 15 (Port Matilda), and Engine 34. Tanker 22 from Bellwood provided additional water, delivering 1,500 gallons to help sustain operations.
The fire was brought under control after a coordinated attack, with crews conducting overhaul and assisting with hazardous materials containment. One lane of the highway reopened after an initial full closure as cleanup continued. The swift response prevented further damage and ensured a safe resolution.
