Two Sheds Destroyed in Plattekill Fire

PLATTEKILL, NY – The Plattekill Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire on Sunny Acres Road on November 9th. Car 1 arrived on scene and found two sheds fully involved. It was reported that a 100-gallon gas tank was in one of the sheds. A second alarm was requested and sounded. Cronomer Valley and Coldenham Fire Departments responded to the scene, and Modena and Clintondale responded with tankers. The fire was knocked down at the 10-minute status check, with four handlines in operation. Firefighters used hand tools to pick apart the interiors of the sheds. No gas tank was located. Deputy Fire Coordinators 54-1, 54-3, and 54-4, along with Orange County Deputy Fire Coordinators 36-12 and 36-13, were on scene. NYS Police were also on scene. The Ulster County Arson Task Force was called to the scene. The fire is under investigation.
