Sunapee, N.H. — October 21 —Late Thursday morning, New London Fire Department was requested to provide mutual aid to Sunapee Fire Department for a reported fuel spill in Sunapee Harbor, near The Blue Canoe.

New London joined Sunapee crews in containment efforts with Boat 1, hazmat spill supplies, and five personnel. To stop the spill from spreading, firefighters used absorbent materials and booms. Units returned to service after operating on the scene until around 2:30 p.m.

Also assisting were Newbury Fire Rescue’s Engine 4, the Midwestern NH Hazardous Materials Response truck, and a spill trailer, marking the second spill response on Lake Sunapee this week. Officials credited the coordinated multi-agency effort for the quick containment and mitigation of the incident.
