On Friday November 7th and Saturday November 8th The LT Joseph P. DiBernardo Memorial Foundation hosted its annual hands on training seminar at the Suffolk County Fire Academy. The training offers 20 different hands on training for fire suppression operations and technical rescue operations. This training is a way for irefighters around the country to receive top of the line training from the most experienced instructors around the country to ensure each firefighter has the proper personal safety device. The training was established in memory of Lt. Joseph P. DiBernardo who was assigned to FDNY Rescue 3. Joey sustained life-altering injuries during a fire incident known as “Black Sunday” in 2005. His injuries took a toll on his body and Joey passed away in 2011.
