Montague, Mass. — November 6 —An important firefighter survival skill—hose orientation and egress in blackout conditions—was the focus of Thursday night's drill at the Montague Center Fire Department. Members practiced the “long lug out” technique, which helps firefighters feel the hose couplings in zero-visibility situations to determine the direction to safety, with their masks blacked over and lights out.
