Jeannette Firefighter responding to house fire finds 3 homes on fire a block away

October 30, 2022 – City of Jeannette, Westmoreland County – At 1:57pm, Jeannette fire crews were dispatched to a reported porch on fire on Lavelle Street. Crews arrived at approximately 3 minutes later and found the fire to be knocked down by the police. At 2:04pm, a Jeannette firefighter responding to the porch fire reported a working fire involving three duplex homes along the 300 block of Division Street which is about a block away from the first fire. Crews responded from the first fire and began setting up a defensive attack on the main fire building and offensive attack on the two exposure buildings. Several mutual aid departments were requested as crews worked for several hours to bring the fire under control. Two of the buildings were destroyed, with a third sustain heavy fire damage. A total of 5 families, including 7 adults and 4 children were displaced. No one was injured. The found has been determined suspicious and is still under investigation by the Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshall’s Office.
