At approximately 12:08 PM on October 18, 2025, Merrimack Fire Rescue and Merrimack Police responded to a report of smoke coming from a home on Bambi Trail.
Merrimack Police arrived first and reported heavy smoke showing. Upon arrival, Engine 1 confirmed heavy smoke and fire conditions. Crews made an aggressive interior attack, and thanks to the strong coordinated efforts of all responding units, the fire was quickly contained and extinguished.
The homeowner and a police officer were treated for smoke inhalation. Unfortunately, three family pets were removed from the home, and despite life-saving efforts, they succumbed to their injuries after being transported to an emergency veterinary hospital.
