OSFD Handles Multiple Calls, Including I-95 Vehicle Fire and Rescue

Old Saybrook, Conn. — October 25 — The Old Saybrook Fire Department (OSFD) experienced a busy Sunday, responding to multiple incidents throughout the day. Firefighters responded to a cooking-related fire alarm on Sheffield Street at 9:24 a.m. Police, fire, emergency medical services, and Connecticut State Police responded to a rollover collision on I-95 at 1:39 p.m. Thankfully, no injuries were reported. At 4:18 p.m., crews responded to a false fire alarm at a residence in North Cove.
The most serious call came at 11:48 p.m., when units were dispatched to I-95 for a two-vehicle collision involving a rollover, fire, and entrapment. Firefighters quickly extricated one trapped occupant while other crews used three engines and foam to extinguish a vehicle fire fueled by a ruptured tank.
Ambulances from Old Saybrook, Westbrook, and Essex, along with a paramedic unit, transported multiple injured individuals for treatment.
